Bucket List: Ride a bike along the bayfront in Corpus Christi.
In a recent trip back home I was able to check off a crucial bucket list item that I've had for a number of years: ride a bike along the oceanfront. I am happy to report that this happened this summer!
Between visits with family and friends, I purchased an inexpensive bicycle which I am gratefully storing at my parent's house until my next visit. I was able to go on a couple of bike rides and found the view spectacular! There is nothing quite like riding beside the ocean at sunrise. The ocean breeze, the sound of the seagulls, the smell of the salt water, the quiet serenity of the suns rays on the soft waves. The image continues to vividly take me back to those mornings. I can't wait to do it again!
A few tips for riding in Corpus Christi:
stick to the bike trail and sidewalk along the bayfront- it's a fairly long trail with a view of the water the entire time (the sidewalks around the city are not conducive to cycling and the streets are very dangerous for cyclists)
during the summer, the best times to bike to avoid the heat are mornings before 9:00 am and in the evenings
